Sydney Technical High School's Library is named after a distinguished old boy, Sir Charles Kingsford-Smith. The library was opened on 7th October, 1977 by the Hon. Eric Bedford, Minister for Education.
Library aims:
- facilitate the varied learning styles of students
- support wide reading and literacy
- maintain an environment conducive to individual research and independent learning
- support the School's Curriculum areas
- develop students' information skills
The Library has on display a variety of memorabilia of Charles Kingsford-Smith and the Southern Cross. The most recent addition is a Medallion which links the great aviator with the space shuttle "Endeavour".
Dr. Andrew Thomas, born in Adelaide, carried the Medallion on his first space mission. Dr. Thomas personally returned the Medallion to the School in November 1996.
LIBRARY RESOURCES

- The Library has accumulated an extensive Book Collection of Non-fiction, Reference and Fiction (some 18,000 titles). It also has a large range of periodicals and a small collection of videos, cassettes and kits for loan to students.
OASIS Library software allows for a computerised catalogue
and the circulation of resources.
- Daily newspapers include the Australian and the Sydney Morning Herald.
- For HSC English courses, the Library has an extensive literature file of critical essays.
- Internet connections allow students and teachers to access the World Wide Web for both research and recreation.
- School Bulletin Board - a student initiated and maintained communication medium for out of school hours. Currently maintained by Min of Year 10.

- Networking of Curriculum resources allows students access to :
- Britannica on CD-Rom as well as World Book, Encarta and Australian Encyclopedias
- Sydney Morning Herald on CD-Rom
- Periodical indexes such as Ausguide and the World Magazine Bank on CD-Rom
- The State Library catalogue
- McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science and Technology
- KLA Handbooks and HSC examination papers and reports
- The Bob Booth Archives Room contains the records of the School�s history: a comprehensive range of photographs, journals and student records and achievement.
